Frequently asked questions
What is the Product Management Foundations Certification?

The Product Management Foundations Certification is Product School's course for new and aspiring product managers, taught live online. It takes you from a raw strategic problem to a launch-ready product concept, with one product carried end to end. The six modules cover strategic product thinking, discovery through qualitative signals, analytics and metrics, roadmapping, experimentation and go-to-market planning. It includes 12 live hours with hands-on labs.
Is Product Management Foundations the same as Product School's Product Manager Certification (PMC)?

Yes. Product Management Foundations is the Product Manager Certification (PMC), fully revamped for what the market expects from product managers today. The core craft is all still there: strategy, customer discovery, metrics, roadmaps and launches. It's now taught the way modern product teams work, with AI as a discovery co-pilot, rapid prototyping, evidence-based experimentation and go-to-market planning built in. The format is tighter too, at 12 live hours.
Do I need product management experience for Product Management Foundations?

No prior PM experience is required. The course is built for new and aspiring product managers, PMs who want to strengthen their fundamentals, and product-adjacent professionals such as consultants and founders.
Is a product management certification worth it?

It is worth it if you need structured, hands-on practice and work you can show, not just reading. Product Management Foundations gives you live instruction in small classes (20 students on average), a shareable portfolio of six artifacts, and a place among 20,000+ Product School alumni.
What will I build in Product Management Foundations?

You work on a B2C or B2B practice product, or bring your own, and ship one artifact per module:
a problem hook and value proposition
a competitive intel brief and customer journey
a hypothesis with metrics
a roadmap, PRD and prototype
an experimentation plan
a GTM strategy and dashboard
The six artifacts come together in one shareable presentation.
How long does Product Management Foundations take?

12 live hours, with weekday and weekend cohorts available. Recordings are available after each class.
How much does Product Management Foundations cost?

$2,999 as a single certification. It is also available through Pro ($3,999 a year for 2 courses) and Unlimited ($4,999 a year, access to all 11 live instructor-led courses). Payment options include an upfront-payment discount, installment plans by region and employer sponsorship.
What should I take after Product Management Foundations?

It is the recommended starting point for several other courses. AI Product Management suggests it for newcomers, and both Go-to-Market and Product Analytics & Experimentation list it as the place to start if you are new to product. Taking Foundations plus one of these as single certifications costs $5,998, while Pro covers both for $3,999 a year.
