Jim Semick

Jim is a co-founder of ProductPlan. For over 15 years he’s taken several software products from concept to successful market launch. ProductPlan is the world’s leading product roadmap software with thousands of teams using their software to plan and communicate their product strategy. Prior to his current role, Jim was a Consultant and Advisor at Product Discovery, venture-funded software companies seeking to identify and launch successful products. Previously, he was part of the founding startup executive team at AppFolio that built and launched a fast-growing SaaS company. Jim was responsible for the initial new product strategy, customer development, market validation, and product launch. He launched new products including SecureDocs, background screening, electronic payments, and insurance value-added services. The company's products are now used by thousands of businesses. IPO in 2015. Jim first gained Consulting experience at Microsoft, where he was Author and Lead Instructional Designer for several Microsoft Press titles sold online and in bookstores, including Networking Essentials: MCSE Readiness Review, Microsoft Internet Information Server: MCSE Readiness Review, Microsoft TCP/IP Training Kit, and Microsoft Internet Information Server Training Kit. He’s passionate about building great products and speaks and writes about Product Management, Business Models, Entrepreneurship, and how to take a software idea from concept to reality.
