Josh Anon
Product Director - Engine, Roblox
Josh enjoys defining, executing, and shipping amazing products, especially ones considered impossible to create that involve the intersection of technology and liberal arts. For the past 17 years, he’s been Owner of Anon Arts LLC, a freelance company for Product Consulting, Software Development, and photography work. Prior to his current venture, Josh was Head of Product Management at Embodied, Inc. creating socially assistive robots to help make the world a better place at a Series A, stealth mode startup. There he led product definition for a complex digital health platform and a product consisting of custom hardware, software, AI, content, cloud, app, and service pieces, unifying stakeholders around a common vision in an agile environment. Most impressively, John began his career in Software working at Pixar Animation Studios as a Technical Director. Over his 10-year stint at Pixar, he was Software Engineer during Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and in-between most other features, developed in-house media and workflow solutions including Pitch Docter storyboarding tool for OS X, playback tools, video sketching, frequently contributed to Software functional specification, and was layout (Camera & Staging) artist on Ratatouille, Up, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, and Monsters University, turning storyboards into 3D shots, and establishing staging, timing, blocking animation, and camera work. He then went on to become a Product Manager for all software (desktop, mobile, and web) in early 2013, defining the roadmap and feature set for the next generation of company software with a unified vision at Lytro Inc. Josh graduated with Honors in Computer Science from Northwestern University.
