Julie has worn many hats in the tech industry for over 20 years while working with numerous technologies, methodologies, and development practices. Today, she is a Senior Engineering Manager at Improbable, helping answer critical questions through simulations that could lead to a better functioning world. During her lucrative career, Julie worked across a variety of domains such as IT & Services, Computer Software, Hospital & Health Care, Government Administration along with Education Management. She began her professional career as a Web Developer, however, she also contributed to multiple roles as Technical Director, Software Engineer, and Technical Product Manager to name a few. On top of her academic and professional endeavors, Julie is also an avid volunteer; she co-founded Women in Product and is a mentor for Coding It Forward and Plato. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mary Baldwin University, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and a Master of Arts in English, both from San Jose State University and additionally she holds a Ph.D. in English from Washington State University. Julie is passionate about teams and building them, and considers herself an adventurer. Her multicultural and multidisciplinary work experience makes Julie an incredibly powerful and inspiring world-class speaker.
