Vice President of Product

The Vice President (VP) of Product oversees the entire Product Management team. As a member of the business executive team, they organize the Product team to ensure they carry out specific goals, including developing a Product roadmap. They consult with the Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer, relay valuable information from leadership meetings to the Product team, determine Product issues, and give directions to the team to resolve them as soon as possible.

With one eye always on company goals, a VP of Product will lead the Product team from the planning to execution stages of the Product life cycle, keep other executives up to date with the latest developments regarding the Product life cycle and roadmap, collaborate with business partners and leadership teams, and manage teams efficiently, identifying potential problems with team members proactively, and taking appropriate action.

A Vice President of Product candidate should have  7+ years of experience leading Product teams, mastery of the Product life cycle and roadmap creation process, ability to determine team Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and motivate the team towards progress, excellent understanding of data and ability to use data to measure progress towards key metrics, exceptional leadership and coaching skills, and the proven ability to foresee issues and take action steps to minimize problems before they occur.

Role Description:

The Vice President of Product oversees the entire Product Management team and is a part of the executive team for the business. The VP of Product organizes a Product team to ensure they carry out specific goals, including developing a Product roadmap. The VP of Product could also be called the Head of Product and sits on a company’s senior leadership team.

VP of Product Responsibilities:

  • Consult with the Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer.

  • Relay valuable information from leadership meetings to the Product team.

  • Determine Product issues and give directions to the team to resolve them as soon as possible.

  • Lead the Product team from the planning to execution stages of the Product life cycle.
