Carlos González de Villaumbrosia

CEO and Founder

As CEO and Founder of Product School, Carlos leads a growing team of instructors and employees dedicated to training the next generation of Product Managers. He is also the author of The Product Book and a frequent speaker at technology industry events.

Carlos founded three companies in the education space and has 8 years of experience building teams and digital products in Europe, Latin America and the U.S. Prior to founding Product School, he was the lead instructor at a Bay Area technology education company, where he was responsible for curating course content and teaching product management. He also served as co-founder and CEO at Floqq (invested in by 500Startups), the biggest marketplace for online courses in Latin America, where he oversaw engineering, design and marketing efforts, including branding, product development, demand and supply generation, communications, fundraising, and international expansion. Earlier in his career, Carlos worked as a product marketing manager at Involver (acquired by Oracle), a startup that created the world’s largest social marketing platform, and held positions as a software engineer and project manager for several small- and medium-sized brands. He earned a Computer Science Degree and a Management Engineering Degree in Spain, and a Certificate in Global Business Management and Marketing from the University of California, Berkeley. He’s fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Susan is Managing Partner at Leeds Illuminate. Her experience in private equity, investment banking, and education leadership span more than 25 years. She started her career as an investment banker at Wachovia Bank and Merrill Lynch.

Susan oversaw the product and service delivery operations whilst working as Chief Operating Officer at 2U, Inc. She was a founding team member of ThinkEquity Partners, leading the education banking vertical. A few years later, she became a partner at Best Associates, where she led education platforms across the U.S. and Latin America. Susan earned her MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, where she was the Executive Director for 5 years, and is also a Board Member at Eruditus, Murison and Primo Water Corporation. Susan is a true business leader in the education and workforce development sector.

Ajay Arora, currently serving as Disney Streaming’s SVP of Product (for Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Star+) joined Product School as Advisor and Board Observer in 2022.

A seasoned Product professional, Ajay is the mastermind behind product teams that have enabled tremendous growth at Audible, Netflix, and most recently, Disney. During his time at Netflix as Director of Product Innovation, he launched a low-cost mobile-only subscription plan for India, and a bundled streaming offering to allow for partnerships with local cable and telecom operators. Ajay’s unique experience as a product leader and the impact his products have made in the world is an inspiration for the next generation of product leaders.

Karla manages Product School’s finance, accounting, legal, HR, compliance, and special projects.
She earned a BSE in Systems Engineering and B.A. in Economics from University of Pennsylvania, then went on to earn an MBA and MA in Education from Stanford University.

Earlier in her career, Karla co-founded Westward Leaning – an eyewear company. She currently sits on the board of the company. While at the company, she focused on manufacturing and operations.
She also led a family office focusing on traditional investments, tax and estate planning.
She is passionate about education, operations and getting things done.

Roland Smart

Chief Marketing Officer

After serving as the marketing advisor to Product School for several years, Roland stepped in to lead the marketing organization as it continues to drive significant growth.

As a marketing executive, Roland offers experience at the growth stage and enterprise companies. As a leader, he brings an operational and product-oriented mindset to marketing and a strong track record establishing high-performance teams focused on customer experience, brand, category creation, demand generation, business development, content/inbound marketing, AR/PR, and community programs.

Roland has over 20 years of experience leading marketing teams focused on propelling disruptive products and services into the market from CPG to MarTech, and PaaS. Previous to Pantheon, he served as the vice president of social and community marketing at Oracle. He’s also held marketing leadership roles with Involver (acquired by Oracle), Sprout (acquired by InMobi), and at AdaptivePath (acquired by CapitalOne).

In addition, Roland was an early evangelist in the Agile marketing movement, author of The Agile Marketer: Turning Customer Experience Into Your Competitive Advantage (Wiley 2016), and co-host of The Marketing Agility Podcast.

Chief Platform Officer

Fernando brings his experience building teams and digital products for companies in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America to his role as head of product and marketing for Product School.
He was also instrumental in the company’s expansion to Silicon Valley, Santa Monica, downtown Los Angeles, and Orange County campuses.

Fernando is passionate about developing the next generation of product managers, in order to help people build products people love, and to take their careers to the next level. He has worked in various product roles at startups, with a consistent focus on growth. Prior to Product School, he was the head of growth at Floqq, a marketplace for online courses. His knack for connecting marketing with product led him to become AXA’s Product Manager for the company’s primary health mobile app.

He earned his Business Management Degree in Spain and is an avid soccer player, skier and surfer when he’s not diving into the latest tools and technologies.
