Thorsten Jaeckel

Thorsten is a natural leader and takes charge of any project he’s working on. He shows an excellent knowledge of the tasks at hand by providing key inputs whenever needed, and his drive to achieve impeccable results helps any team perform above and beyond. Currently, Thorsten works as a Product at Coinbase in San Francisco. Previously to that, he was a Product Lead at Square, leading a team of 3 Product Managers and 20+ engineers and data scientists. They built Square Installments, which brings omnichannel point-of-sale financing to Square merchants. During his time at Square, Thorsten’s team scaled the product from MVP to a national scale and achieved the following milestones: onboarding Celtic bank as the lender to expand to all US states, re-designing the application experience to improve conversion and achieving positive unit economics by developing next-gen fraud and risk models. Prior to his current role, Thorsten was a Director of Product at LendUp, where he hired and led a team of 5 Product Managers. His team was working on LendUp Loans, which included a safe alternative to Payday lending as well as credit building lower-cost Installment Loans. Some of Thorsten’s key accomplishments include: launching a new Installment loan product line for new customers and expanding LendUp Payday loans into 8 new states, representing a 50% expansion in geographical footprint.
