Product Managers are a multidisciplinary bunch, with interests and specialties ranging from leadership to design, tech to marketing. They’re also just as varied in how they like to get their knowledge. Some like watching videos, some prefer books, others tune into a good podcast.
Blogs are another great medium for getting bite-sized chunks of information, and up your Product Management skills. Today we’re going to show you some of our favorites, encapsulating all the aspects of the job.

1. Product Coalition
This Medium publication features articles from a wide variety of product professionals, giving you an unbiased 360 view of the product world today.
They say variety is the spice of life, and that’s definitely the case with content! The topics shared on Product Coalition are broad in scope, meaning you’ll never know what’s going to pop up. You’ll end up learning things you didn’t know you didn’t know!
2. Inside Intercom
Inside Intercom has a dedicated Product & Design section, written specifically by members of the product teams at Intercom. The team writes about all things product management, from product strategy and design, to product roadmaps and team management.
Reading ProductPlan’s blog is an absolute must for any new and aspiring Product Manager, and even seasoned professionals will gain from their insights and fresh perspectives. Articles come from ProductPlan’s own expert team, as well as from interviews with industry leaders.
All aspects of product management are covered here, and adding them to your weekly reading will arm you with the best tools for rocking as a Product Manager!
4. UX Planet
UX Planet is similar to Product Coalition, in that it collects articles from a variety of contributing design professionals. While a portion of the content is dedicated to product designers (how to get a job, how to build a portfolio etc.), there are a lot of entry-level design articles which will be especially useful for PMs
One of our favourites is their ‘inspiration series’, which showcases some excellent and innovative UX work. They’re currently on #111 of the series…so you’ve got plenty to inspire you!

5. Inside Design
You’re probably familiar with InVision, the brains behind Inside Design. What we love about this blog is that it caters to design professionals at all levels. So if you’re a Product Manager who has never had any design experience, or you came to product from a design background, there’s something here for you.
You can also pick up some non-design gems along the way, like tips for remote work and collaboration. There are plenty of community posts and thought pieces on what it means to be a product designer, which will help you to better understand their role and empathize with them.

6. Courtside by Dribble
Design lovers will probably have heard of Dribble, which serves as an online showcase for product designers, and as a source of inspiration for everyone else.
Courtside is Dribble’s blog, which features interviews with design experts, community posts, think pieces on new methodologies in design, and lists posts. Naturally, Courtside is also beautiful to look at! Not only does this blog give you some great insights on how designers work and what their problems are, but it’ll give you a better understanding of modern design.
7. The Girls in Tech Blog
Girls in Tech is an online community to help women across the world break into and excel in technology careers. Their blog focuses on the intersectional issues that women worldwide face, and how they form a barrier to the tech industry, and gives insights from female tech leaders on how to succeed. Their articles range from interviews with female CEOs, applicable advice on how to land an interview, and uplifting pieces on how to smash the glass ceiling.

9. A List Apart
Written by programmers for programmers, A List Apart offers pieces from a variety of contributing writers on issues surrounding tech. An excellent read for Technical Product Managers, or any Product Managers looking to better understand their techy teammates.

10. The Hubspot Marketing Blog
Ask your marketing team if they’ve heard of Hubspot, and you might get a laugh out of them, because every marketer knows Hubspot! The focus of the blog is to provide updated information on algorithm changes, examples of marketing best practices, and inspiration for the budding marketer.
Topics range from social media marketing, website personalization, email marketing, marketing funnels, iPaas, indexing…there’s something for everyone!
Drift is conversational marketing royalty!

Most professionals will be familiar with Business Insider, as they’re a popular source of news. However, their leadership section, CEO Insider, is an absolute must-read for Product Managers. The small steps you can take to build trust with your team and make their lives easier, will make your job much smoother!
14. SmartData Collective
SmartData Collective is a community of data science lovers. If you’re a Technical Product Manager, or a PM looking to increase your understanding of data science, this is the place for you.
