When you open up your inbox on a Monday morning and see that you’ve got a hundred new emails, take solace that some of them will be awesome newsletters to brighten up your day, keep you informed, and teach you something new.
You might have thought that newsletters are a thing of the past, but hundreds of thousands of readers clearly say otherwise! Product newsletters are still going strong!
There are dozens out there that are especially useful to Product Managers, across tech news, UX updates, and leadership advice. We’ve condensed them all down into one list of absolutely essential newsletters for product management, to keep your inbox useful and clear of clutter.
10 Newsletters Every Product Manager Should Subscribe To
1. Lenny’s Newsletter
Lenny’s Newsletter, by Lenny Rachitsky, “tackle[s] reader questions about product, growth, working with humans, and anything else that’s stressing you out at the office.” Every week, Lenny receives questions on everything to finding product-market fit, and how to balance autonomy and direction. In his newsletter he answers these questions from real-life readers, giving you actionable insights and the advice product people really need.
2. Product Managers At Work by Alexis and Adrienne
This newsletter comes to you straight from the horse's mouth, if the horses in question were actually expert, former PMs who can bring you the best insights from Silicon Valley! Alexis Haebin Kim (Facebook and Instagram) and Adrienne Tran (Tesla and Google) give you real, actionable advice which you can start applying to your work today.
3. Bringing the Donuts
Bringing the Donuts is by Ken Norton, a Product Management Leader at Google. With over 15,000 product leaders subscribed, you’re in good company! Bringing the Donuts brings you PM advice, exclusive startup jobs, and leadership techniques from one of tech’s most experienced product minds.
4. Morning Brew
Morning Brew is appropriately named, as it’s the perfect thing to read as soon as you get to your desk with your morning coffee. It’s a witty, insightful overview of a couple of BIG news stories in Silicon Valley, along with stocks, podcasts, and book recommendations.
5. 5-Bullet Friday
5-Bullet Friday is curated and written by Tim Ferriss, one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Business People” and an early-stage tech investor/advisor in Uber, Facebook, Twitter, Shopify, Duolingo, Alibaba, and 50+ other companies.
Each Friday, he’ll send you a list of the things he’s been loving, exploring, and discovering, from new apps to books, podcasts, and gadgets. Wired has called him ‘the superman of Silicon Valley’ so you’re going to want to know what he’s into!
6. UserOnboard
It’s not just Product Managers who love UserOnboard and their (hilariously sarcastic) takedowns of big brand user onboarding experiences! Tech lovers of all types enjoy having the onboarding process of Google, Uber, Spotify, and so many more dissected and critiqued.
It’s not just a nice dose of schadenfreude. It’s a valuable lesson that will help you re-think your own user onboarding experience and help you to see it through another POV.
7. TLDR
TLDR (meaning Too Long Didn’t Read) is the busy techie’s best friend. You get a email blast with links to articles from around the web with the world’s top news stories in tech, science, and coding. It saves you the trouble of browsing various news sites to find out what really matters.
Bonus: each article comes with its own TLDR summary.
8. The Other Valleys
When you’re building products for everyone, you need to know about everyone. Other Valleys gives you some insight into the different tech hubs around the world, and what’s going on in tech outside of San Francisco.
Find out what the Israeli biotech community is up to, or read the latest think piece on how to launch in emerging markets…all before breakfast!
9. The UX Collective
UX Collective is one of the top blogs we recommend that Product Managers follow, and the newsletter is just as good. UX design knowledge is vital for everyone involved in building digital products, especially Product Managers. UX Collective delivers insightful articles, inspiration, and easy-to-digest content no matter how familiar (or unfamiliar!) you are with the principles of UX.
